Cirkel Group Partners with WWF to Support Earth Hour 2026
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement that invites individuals, businesses, and communities to switch off their lights for one hour as a symbolic act of support for the planet. While the action may seem simple, its message is powerful. It is a reminder that even small steps can contribute to a much greater impact, especially when people come together with a shared purpose.
This year’s Earth Hour theme in Suriname was “Protect Wildlife.” Since the environment is one of Cirkel Group’s core CSR pillars, Cirkel Group partnered with WWF, which raises awareness and supports environmental conservation efforts.
For Cirkel Group, Earth Hour is about much more than simply turning off the lights for one hour. It is about recognizing that the choices made today can help shape a more sustainable future for tomorrow.

Fighting Hunger, Tackling Food Waste – Harvest Suriname
Quick Service Restaurants all over the world, including in Suriname, deal with surplus food as part of daily operations. This usually happens after peak hours, such as the end of the lunch rush or close to closing time. As a result, quick service restaurants often have food that remains unsold but is still safe for consumption. At the same time, many individuals and families within communities continue to experience food insecurity. Recognizing this contrast, KFC and Pizza Hut, as global brands, saw an opportunity to act responsibly by addressing both food waste and hunger in a practical and meaningful way. Rather than allowing surplus food to go to waste, the focus shifted toward creating a solution that could benefit communities in need.
Harvest Suriname was created with the purpose of reaching out to those experiencing food insecurity. KFC and Pizza Hut uniting together through Harvest Suriname to provide meals to children, elderly, and families who are less privileged. Our very first Harvest project took place in 2019, where we had the honor of serving orphanages and homes for the elderly, a mission that continues to this day.
This initiative would not be possible without the dedication of our loyal and committed employees from Cirkel Group, KFC, and Pizza Hut who generously give their time to serve others.
