First KFC branch open in Commewijne
MEERZORG — KFC Suriname opened a new restaurant in the Commewijne district on Wednesday. The branch, located along the East-West connection at the GOw2 service station, approximately two kilometers from the Wijdenbosch Bridge, is the first international fast-food chain on the east side of the river.
The new restaurant features a spacious outdoor terrace, comfortable seating, a drive-thru, and takeout options. Delivery service will also be offered soon. According to KFC Suriname, the company’s trusted quality and service will remain paramount.
Employment and Entrepreneurship
General Manager Woodly Ganga called it an important step for the company. “This is a great milestone. Eight restaurants in Suriname, and now the first international fast-food chain to do so. We are trendsetters,” Ganga said.
District Commissioner Mohamedsafiek Radjab emphasized that KFC Meerzorg offers more than just fast food. He said the branch contributes to employment and can create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Growing together with the community
Bjorn Ajeremi, the restaurant’s general manager, considers good service his top priority. He called on the local community to join his team. “We want to grow together with Commewijne.” Along with Ishan Hindori, son of entrepreneur Arun Hindori, Ajeremi performed the official opening ceremony by cutting the ribbon.
With the opening of KFC Meerzorg, the company emphasizes its growth plans in Suriname. In addition to expanding the number of locations, the chain wants to continue its commitment to the community, including through the “KFC Naf’ Unu” initiative, which emphasizes social engagement and collaboration. “KFC stands for Finger Lickin’ Good food that brings people together, and we want to achieve that here in Commewijne as well,” said Ganga.
The festive opening was attended by the directors and management of KFC Suriname, employees, District Commissioner Radjab, and guests involved in the construction and realization of the project.
