KFC, the first international fast food franchise restaurant in Suriname, was opened in September 1996 and has had a substantial influence on local dining. Our second restaurant, which opened in February 1998, became the standard for the restaurant industry in Suriname. The success of KFC attracted local, regional and international competition.
Nevertheless, KFC was able to maintain its leadership position in chicken with an average annual sales growth of 27%, which has resulted in plans to open a third outlet in 2005.
Some Historical facts:

- His mother directed that as the eldest child it was necessary to earn over $2.00 per month
- With no knowledge of cooking he placed some tables and chairs in a service station in Kentucky
- After the war, the pressure cooker was discovered and the colonel bought 8, which only produced a dry flavorless chicken
- Step by step, his reputation grew being known for the best fried chicken between Cincinnati and Atlanta
- This led him to travel the country opening franchises where he personally trained the people with his special recipe and techniques
- According to the colonel: “There is a thousand ways to cook chicken, but only one way to make Kentucky Friend Chicken!”
