In
May 2005, a separate beverage distribution unit was
established by the name of
Cirkel
Beverages (CB)
as a spin off from United Distributors. The beverages
business had become large enough to set up a separate
distribution unit.
Cirkel Beverages’ main focus is the distribution of the
PepsiCo premium brands: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7Up, Slice
and Gatorade. These PepsiCo premium brands are currently
imported from Pepsi Cola Trinidad Bottling Co. Ltd. and
the USA. Other internationally renowned brands such as MAAZA and Everlee Juices, are also part of the CB
portfolio.
CB’s
biggest challenge in 2006 will be the switch from
distributing solely imported products, to distributing
mainly locally bottled Pepsi core brands. This will
entail an expansion of the entire distribution system to
accommodate a volume increase of hundreds of
percentages. In addition, the portfolio will be expanded
with other PepsiCo premium brands such as the Tropicana
Juices.
With
the sales and marketing support from Pepsi
International, CB is ultimately challenged and
determined to substantially increase its beverages
market share in Suriname.
In February 2007, this distribution unit was transformed
into Becos, which stands for Beverages Company Suriname NV.
The company’s main focus is the distribution of Pepsi
International brands. The portfolio consists of Pepsi, 7Up
and Slice which are bottled locally, and imported brands
such as Gatorade, Propel, Mountain Dew, Tropicana and Frito
Lays.
